My Maker and I Pinup

I did this a good while ago but for some reason never posted it. Sadly the book it was due to go into – 'My Maker and I' – from Accent UK is in a state of limbo as far as I'm aware.

It's a shame really as the book would really have gotten people's attention. Between Owen Johnson's fab script and the tremendous artwork of Dan (TMNT) Duncan and Matt Soffe it really is something to behold. I've done a fair bit of work on this behind the scenes, between logo designs, interior design pages and even attempting some of the lettering (less said about that the better!) it's a crime this isn't out there already really. I think everyone is hoping that when Dan (the artist) has some free time between working on the TMNT comic for IDW that he'll return to this.

My pinup was coloured quite incredibly by Steve Howard, and he did such a super job on it it deserved to be seen and not just sitting in a folder on a hard drive somewhere.

Time for something different!

It's official, my new project is 'MIDNIGHT MAN'

I'm finally going to get off my lazy arse and do something. My partner in crime on this is the mega talented Mo Ali (check his blog to see what I mean) and he took my basic character (which was just the sketch I posted a while back) and created an inspired piece of pulp comics that's probably going to rank as the most insane thing I've ever done.

And I say that as a good thing!

The above image was done just to advertise this on twitter and facebook, it was simply a 10 minute drawing and a bit of photoshop trickery that came out much better than I expected. The response to it has been incredible, I'm just not sure if it's going to be the cover though.

The only thing missing there is a publisher logo, that's because we have no publisher. Not yet anyway. We're talking to a few people but we're also tempted to self publish so we have complete control over the final product. Very early days yet though, watch this space is all I can say.

Where does this leave 'Last of the Wolfmen' (AKA Wolfmen 3)? well my plan is to do that straight after I complete this, so I haven't forgotten about that book I just felt the need to do something else after drawing the same book for the last few years.

I'm also in the early stages of a project with Jason Cobley that will be a complete departure for me. I've read the first few pages and it's fabulous stuff. I'm going to be cracking on with some character designs on that very soon too.

More on both these books very soon!

Missing: Have You Seen The Invisible Man?

This is an upcoming book from Accent UK written by Dave West and drawn by Joe Campbell.

It's a very clever little tale, and as it's part of Accent's 'Blessed/Cursed' imprint, it will share the same newspaper design that proved so popular and distinctive with 'Whatever Happened to the World's Fastest Man.'

I've done most of my work on that, just a couple of pages to finish off, and I believe this is due to debut at Novembers Thought Bubble convention in Leeds, along with 'WesterNoir' 2 and 'Who on Earth is Thaddeus Mist?' Should be a bumper day if you like Accent UK's books.

Above is my pinup for the book, tried to come up with something a little different for an invisible man image, so hopefully I succeeded. Greytones again expertly applied by Mr Steve Howard Esq.

That's all folks!
