Guerillas Pinup!

I was really honoured to be asked to contribute a pinup to Brahm Revel's superb 'Guerillas' book published by Oni Press. if you've never read it, I strongly recommend you track a copy of it down. Monkey soldiers in Vietnam - that description alone should be enough to get you to buy it, but behind that killer hook is a great story and some stunning artwork.

My pinup will be going into Vol2, which is due to debut at the San Diego Comic Con. Again I always looks at what I've done and wish I could have done better - especially when I was told who the other pinup artists where. Luckily he didn't tell me that after I'd sent my pic in :-)

I'm in fantastic company, superb artists all of them - I just hope my effort doesn't stand out too much (in a bad way of course).

Into the Woods Cover Process

The Into the Woods: A Fairytale Anthology has been printed and looks fantastic. There are some very talented creators taking part in the book and it's well worth your time and money.

The book will debut at the Cardiff Comic Expo at the end of February, and will be on sale at many of the UK cons this year. I think Stacey is setting up an online way of buying the book that will go live after the books launch. You can find that here.

Stacey has blogged about the book on her blog here!

I've had so many great comments on the cover that have really cheered me up though the many bouts of severe confidence issues I'm having with my work lately. It's all really appreciated, but the contribution of artist/colourist extraordinaire Steve Howard should never be underestimated. You can see from the cover process above that he really added so much to make this cover work, that I really can't thank him enough.

Next up will be Zombies 2 or '2ombies' from Accent UK, the next anthology... and after that is 'Josiah Black' from Dave West and Gary Crutchley. Readers of my blog will remember I originally developed this with Dave for me to draw, but I decided to ask Gary to do take over as I wasn't sure I was up to the task. Gary has added more to the project than just drawing the hell out of it, and his contributions have elevated the book into something really special.

You can see some of it at Gary's blog here. 'Josiah Black' is a 4 issue mini-series, with the first part coming very soon from Accent UK. I will be still involved in the book, even in a small way, by doing all the design/pre-press and production work on the book.

And I can't wait to see it!!.

What the hell was this??

An old school friend posted this on facebook and I thought I'd show it here for a good laugh.

Dunno what I did it for and in truth can't even remember doing it!!

Still it was 22 years ago - now I do feel old. Shame I haven't improved much in that time.

Sketches & stuff...

Here are a few bits and bobs to show I'm still alive.

First is a cover image done for Stuart Gould at UKComics (who do a fab job printing all Accent UK's comics and help promote and support UK independent comics) for his 'UKComics' magazine. Steve Howard stepped in at the last minute to colour it, as it was very much a rush job for me. Still it came out ok, and is really the first 'proper' drawing I've done for months.

Next up a quick lunchtime sketch of the 'Doctor Diablo' character I drew for the 'Robots' anthology. This strip was written by John Reppion and Leah Moore and is the favourite of all the anthology stories I've done. I've love to do another one with John and Leah one day.

Last is a character I created with a friend when I was very little. I suddenly remembered him the other day so I quickly re-designed him today and did a quick pic. Just for fun really.
